23 youth attended our 2016 Summer Youth Leadership Summit. The Summit took place August 5-8th at Camp K on Kenai Lake. This was one of our youngest groups ever with an average age of 15. The theme was Allyship. Workshops covered topics such as politics, sexual health, and media literacy. The winter Summit will be held February 10-12 at Birchwood Camp in Chugiak.
SAGE Alaska is the newest program of Identity. This statewide organization will provide opportunities for older LGBT adults to form and strengthen meaningful relationships, identify and utilize trusted vendors and service providers, find support and encouragement when needed, and learn about available resources.
Identity envisions a world where all people are free to express and be proud of their gender identity and sexual orientation.
Identity’s mission is to advance Alaska’s LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community through advocacy, education and connectivity.
Identity’s programs include: Downtown Community Center; Q Club and Translution for youth; Transparent for Parents/Legal Guardians; SAGE Alaska for elders; LGBT cultural competency training; statewide advocacy; and events such as Alaska PrideFest and the Youth Leadership Summit.
