Gender Expansive Community of Anchorage

The Gender-Expansive Community of Alaska (GECA) is a community-building, social support group for people of gender-expansive experience (transgender, nonbinary, genderfluid, genderqueer, two-spirit, agender, and all other experiences and expressions of gender that are beyond the binary).

Monthly Meetups

We welcome you to join us for one of our monthly group meetings on Fridays, where we engage in topic-based discussions, games, and sometimes an art night. Occasionally we have guest speakers and guest hosts, and also have events throughout the year. When we meet in-person, folx are welcome to bring a close personal support person with them if they like.

  • June 25th, 2021 7-9pm is our public meeting during pride, a discussion about how we think about gender and begin to question it. (Virtual via Zoom. Register here.)
  • July 16th, 2021 7-9pm is going to be an outdoor celebration for Nonbinary people’s day.
  • August 14th, 2021 Noon-4pm is going to be our annual picnic at Sunset park.

Transgender Day of Visibility

You’re invited to a virtual event for Transgender Day of Visibility. Join us for art, stories, music and more at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 27 via Zoom and YouTube.
“If it weren’t for the visibility of other trans people, I never would have figured out how to be myself and love myself. By showing up publicly we make the world safer for others.” – participant in TDOV
We celebrate the accomplishments and voices of transgender and gender expansive people in Alaska while also raising awareness of the work that is still needed to save trans lives.
“Being out in a positive community is hard to come by, especially in a state like Alaska. Celebrating visibility with others that are a part of the community or just in support is so nice.”
This Transgender Day of Visibility event is hosted by Identity, the Gender Expansive Community of Anchorage (GECA), Transcending Tales and community members.
“It’s a day to remember those that came before us, to be aware of where we are today, and the steps we can take to secure the future generations in a safer and more inclusive society.”
Free to attend. $25+ suggested donation. Registration required for Zoom attendance.
Sponsored by Full Spectrum Health.
