Screening of “Stonewall Uprising”

OutNorth and Identity present a special screening of the American Experience/PBS film “Stonewall Uprising” at the Alaska Experience Theater.
This documentary examines the events surrounding the Stonewall riots that began during the early hours of June 28, 1969. The film features interviews with eyewitnesses to the incident and concludes with an examination of the aftermath of the rioting, including the energizing of the gay community as a political force and the establishment of Christopher Street Liberation Day, the genesis of gay pride parades in the United States.
A special panel of LGBT Alaskans, including Vic Carlson, will share their experiences about what it was like to be out in 1969 in the Last Frontier.
