LGBTQ+ Affirming Businesses

Opinions for Peace

We are a small business from Anchorage, Alaska, and we sell handmade pins, necklaces, and more! Our jewelry has important and meaningful messages, images (such as pride flags!), and pronouns on them. We also wanted to make a difference, not just by amplifying powerful messages, but we’re also donating 40% of our proceeds to our local Planned Parenthood to keep families (and especially women!) safe.

EQUALITY  IS  GOOD  FOR  BUSINESS

Brain Drain
Alaska needs to keep a competitive talent pool where workers are safe to stay in state and improve the economy. This requires protections to free workers from discrimination and welcome them to put down roots for themselves and their families.

Tourism
Two-thirds of meeting planners say they will avoid states with anti-LGBTQ laws.

Business Development
Nondiscrimination makes states and their economies more innovative, with increased patents filed and an influx of innovators. When workers are forced in the closet they are less productive, with negative impacts on their health, wellness, and ability to innovate.

Liability
Nondiscrimination protections vary widely depending on where in Alaska employers operate. The current patchwork of legal protections creates uncertainty, unpredictability, and liability. A federal standard like the Equality Act will give clarity to employees, customers, and employers.

Show your support for federal LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination protections today!

Organizations across Alaska are coming together as part of a broad coalition that strongly supports comprehensive nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ Americans nationwide. Can you sign your business on as a part of the coalition
