Support Groups

Identity houses several groups each month, as well as partners with other agencies in Anchorage to support the growing diversity within the LGBTQ+ and ally communities.

Support Groups for Youth

Translution

A social/education support group for teens age 13-19 who identify as transgender, genderqueer/fluid or are questioning their gender. This group meets weekly and allows youth exploring their Gender Identity and/or expression a safe and support place to be themselves with other youth going through similar experiences.

Q-Club Anchorage

Q-Club is a social/educational group open to all LGBTQ teens and allies ages 13-18 in Anchorage. Most meetings provide education around a subject relevant to the lives of LGBTQ youth with topics from applying for college or jobs, to LGBTQ specific sexual health education. Q-Club is also a comfortable space for LGBTQ youth to play games and hangout. This group is facilitated by Identity, Inc. who works to ensure LGBTQ teens have the opportunity to access necessary resources to live happier and more productive lives. Come join us for fun and friendship!

Q-Club Mat-Su Valley

Mat-Su Q-Club is a social/educational group open to all LGBTQ teens and allies ages 13-18 in the Mat-Su Valley. Most meetings provide education around a subject relevant to the lives of LGBTQ youth with topics from applying for college or jobs, to LGBTQ specific sexual health education. Mat-Su Q-Club is also a comfortable space for LGBTQ youth to play games and hangout. Support Groups for Adults

Gender-Expansive Community of Anchorage (formerly Anchorage Transgender Community)

The Gender-Expansive Community of Anchorage (GECA) is a social/community support group for gender-expansive adults ages 18+. This group provides an opportunity to adults and their family and friends to network and connect with other community members and allies.

Generation Q

Generation Q is a social/educational support group for 18+ LGBTQ+ community members looking for a place to mix and mingle, outside of the bar. Substance free.

The Rainbow Club

The Rainbow Club is a social/educational support group for LGBTQ+ adults 18 and up, who experience intellectual or developmental challenges.

SAGE Coffee & Conversation

SAGE provides opportunities for older LGBT adults to form and strengthen meaningful relationships, identify and utilize trusted vendors and service providers, find support and encouragement when needed, and learn about available resources.

Trans Leadership Alaska

Trans Leadership Alaska is for members of the transgender, gender nonconforming, and gender expansive community who have a passion for work in advocacy and education. If you identify as trans and want to inspire change in your community, this space is for you!

TransParents

A social/educational support group for parents, family members or guardians of transgender/genderqueer youth. As many of us know when someone comes out in our lives their entire community comes out with them. This groups aims to provide social and educational support to any adults who have a young person who recently came out or is actively exploring their Gender Identity. There are also opportunities to get involved in working with other parents and school officials in better understand the needs of parents and guardians with Trans youth in their lives.

Veteran-Active Duty Support Group

A LGBTQ Veteran-Active Duty Support Group is for anyone who has ever served in the military, in any capacity. This includes people who may have been dishonorably discharged or served in the military but never achieved veteran status.  Having this wider net of membership is one of the reasons why we want this meeting to take place off the VA campus.

Veteran’s Wellness Support Group

Veteran’s Wellness Support Group is for LBGTQ+ veterans and meets from 3 to 4 pm on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at the Alaska VA in Anchorage, located at 1201 North Muldoon Road.
